AMC Freaked Out By ‘Mad Men’ Saying Show Won’t Go Beyond Season Six, Says That’s Not Necessarily So

AMC, of course, freaked out  when Matt Weiner, creator and showrunner of its highly acclaimed drama "Mad Men"–which has won the Emmy for Best Drama two years running–casually mentioned at the annual convention of the National Association of Broadcasters last week that the show wouldn’t continue past season 6 (season 4 debuts on July 25th).

Here was AMC’s reaction, according to the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog: ""No one wants to see Don Draper wearing a leisure suit. We trust Matthew’s vision and that he knows where to take the show. But with that said, M*A*S*H figured how to stretch the Korean War for more than a decade, so stay tuned!"
