Lucasfilm Animation is developing a new "Star Wars" series that takes an irreverent and comedic slant on the franchise, the Hollywood Reporter says.
The series will receive creative input from Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, who created the "Robot Chicken" parodies of the science-fiction films. "What do these characters do when they’re not overthrowing empires?" Green says.
While no network has been announced, the series is likely to secure a deal with either Cartoon Network or its Adult Swim programming block. Jennifer Hill of "The Backyardigans" will produce and Todd Grimes of "Back at the Barnyard" will direct.
