"ABC World News" and "CBS Evening News" posted their lowest rated first quarters in total viewers since at least 1987, TVNewser reports.
It was 23 years ago, in 1987,that Nielsen started using People Meters.
ABC averaged 8.27 million viewers during the period, while CBS drew an average of 6.45 million viewers, the site reports. "NBC Nightly News" saw a boost from the network’s coverage of the Vancouver Winter Olympics, and averaged 9.92 million viewers.
That made the first three months of 2010 the highest first-quarter average for NBC since 2005, the article says.
All three of the evening newscasts sill have a significantly bigger audience than the cable news channels.
