Is MSNBC’s David Shuster Moving to CNN? He’s Reportedly Shot a Pilot for CNN and May Not Have Informed NBC About It. If so, What Was He Thinking?

MSNBC news reporter and regular fill-in, David Shuster, reportedly filmed a pilot for a new show on CNN, reports the New York Observer.

The network shot the pilot in-house, with Shuster co-anchoring with Michel Martin of NPR.

The pilot included opinion pieces and medical segments with guest appearances by Chrystia Freeland of the Financial Times and The New Yorker’s Jeffrey Toobin.

The pilot may never see the light of day, as many outlets have reported CNN tinkering with potential shows in recent months as the former news giant looks to regain its footing in viewership.

However, adding further fuel to the fire is Shuster’s absence today from his post during MSNBC’s 3 p.m. EST news hour, despite the fact that he was there for his 10 a.m. EST shift. The New York Times indicates that MSNBC may not have been informed about Shuster’s pilot, quoting a MSNBC rep as saying "If true, this is unacceptable and David will be punished appropriately."

  1. He’s a jerk anyway. He’s the one who said Bill and Hillary were “pimping out” Chelsea during the campaign. A mild slap on the wrist was all he got. Imagine what would have happened if he had said the same thing about Michelle or Sasha or Malia? Eh?

  2. WAS DAVIDS SHUSTER THE ONE WHO WAS SUSPENDED BY MSNBC A FEW YEAR’S BACK

  3. I agree with your thoughts here and I really love your blog! I’ve bookmarked it so that I can come back & read more in the future.
