Katie Holmes, Greg Kinnear and Emmy-winner Tom Wilkinson are all signed for a major cable TV project.

Kinnear has been cast to play John F. Kennedy in the History Channel’s miniseries "The Kennedys," the New York Times’ ArtsBeat reports.

He’ll be joined by Katie Holmes, who is taking the part of Jacqueline Kennedy, and Barry Pepper of "Saving Private Ryan", who will portray Robert F. Kennedy. Emmy Award winner Tom Wilkinson has been cast as Joseph P. Kennedy.

The network plans to air the eight-hour show in 2011. The project, from "24" producer Joel Surnow, has been the focus of criticism from some historians who, after reading early drafts of the scripts, said the portrayal included some historical inaccuracies and presented President Kennedy and his family in an uncomplimentary light.

But Kinnear’s casting "makes it hard to believe that Surnow is doing a hatchet job, since if Kinnear is anything, judging from most of his roles, he is the epitome of someone who represents middle-American decency and idealism," writes Patrick Goldstein in the Los Angeles Times’ The Big Picture blog. Goldstein adds, "It seems wildly unfair to assume that just because Surnow is a conservative, that he would have a conservative agenda when it comes to portraying history."

  1. No more gossip about Katie Holmes being pregnant! Just because she is wearing saggy clothes may simply suggest that she desires to be comfortable.

  2. I agree with your thoughts here and I really love your blog! I’ve bookmarked it so that I can come back & read more in the future.

  3. I love the expression. Everyone needs to express there own opinion and feel free to hear others. Keep it up 🙂
