ABC News sent out an erroneous tweet on Wednesday morning, alerting followers that Jake Tapper was reporting President Barack Obama planned to name Elena Kagan as his Supreme Court nominee,Mediate reports.

The tweet from @ABCWorldNews was soon followed by a response from Tapper, who wrote, "@ABCWorldNews no I dont." That was followed by an apology from the person behind the ABC World News Twitter feed, who called it "our big mistake."

According to the article, an ABC News spokesperson said the erroneous tweet was the result of an "internal drill" to prepare staffers for sending out news alerts about breaking stories. "Not the kind of Twitter exchange you expect to see from a network news operation and their star Washington reporter," Mediaite writes.
