Leno’s Ratings Trend Oddly Mirroring Conan O’Brien’s When You Make Comparisons by Week Number

After seven weeks of Jay Leno’s second round on "The Tonight Show," it’s clear that his ratings trend is "eerily similar to Conan O’Brien’s," Bill Gorman at TVbytheNumbers.com writes.

"Jay’s beaten David Letterman’s ‘Late Show’ all seven weeks, but so did Conan’s ‘Tonight Show’ after seven weeks," Gorman says. Both shows follow a similar ratings decline in the 18- to 49 year-old demographic in weekly ratings averages during their first several weeks.

Most of Gorman’s piece is actually a chart he put together that compares Conan, Leno and Letteman by week number, as opposed to by date.

"Jeff Zucker turned his network inside out" only "to put Jay back at 11:30 and this is what he got?" Gorman asks.
