Local Station Revenue May Hit $17 Billion in 2010

Television station sales may reach $17 billion in 2010, representing a 7.5 percent jump from the $15.8 billion in revenue recorded last year, B&C reports, citing data from BIA/Kelsey.

TV revenue in 10 states should rise 8 percent or more, helped by heated political races. The states include Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Texas and Ohio, which should all see sales jump by 8.5 percent, while Colorado TV stations will see a 8.4 percent rise in revenue.

Still, station revenue may slip to $16.8 billion in 2011 because of a lack of midterm elections next year.
