Stephen King’s ‘Dark Tower’ Series Attracting TV, Film Deal With Howard, Grazer

Stephen King is in discussions with Imagine Entertainment and Weed Road to make a television series and film trilogy from his "The Dark Tower" book series, Deadline.com reports.

Under the deal, the script would be written by Akiva Goldsman and directed by Ron Howard, while his Imagine Entertainment partner Brian Grazer would produce with Goldsman and King. The deal comes after JJ Abrams, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse worked on developing the book series, "but they never cracked it."

It’s unclear how much King asked for the rights, but reportedly he had previously sold the rights to Abrams for $19, a number with meaning in the series.
