‘Modern Family’ Ponders Maximizing Its Emmy Nominations

Apr 7, 2010  •  Post A Comment

With Writers Guild awards and a Peabody to its name, ABC’s "Modern Family" is now beginning to plot how to maximize its chances to win a slew of Emmy nominations, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Because the show is such an ensemble, one thought is to submit all the main actors – Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jessie Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara — in the lead actor and actress categories.

Another option is putting all the actors, except O’Neill, in supporting categories. The reality for the show is similar to "Desperate Housewives" and "Friends," in which the actors invariably wind up running against each other.

The show needs to decide quickly, as Emmy submissions are due by April 30.

  1. Nonsense. This reminds me of giving all the kids on the teams trophies – even the ones that didn’t win just so no one gets their feelings hurt. Toughen up.
