Nielsen Planning Set-Top Box Test for Local Markets

Nielsen is planning to test whether set-top boxes can upgrade local market ratings, MediaPost reports. 

The company will test a hybrid model combining set-top boxes with traditional panels in three undetermined markets. One will be a top-25 market using local people meters, with the second a top-60 market with set meters and the third a market using diaries.

The hybrid approach could provide second-by-second ratings for demographic segments.
