For only the second time ever, the U.S. Open Golf Tournament will be aired in primetime, on Saturday and Sunday, June 19-20, reports B&C.
Tiger Woods who last week applied to enter in the tournament, is expected to play, though he has made no official announcement. Ten years ago he won the U.S. Open when it was played at Pebble Beach in Northern California. That’s where the tournament will be played again this year.
Because the Open is being held in California, it’s conducive to primetime coverage. The first time the US Open was aired in primetime was in 2008 at Torrey Pines in the San Diego area, and it lifted the golf tournament to its highest ratings in six years.
On Saturday, June 19, NBC will be broadcasting the Open from 4:30-11 p.m. EST, and on Sunday, Father’s Day, the network will air the round from 3-9 p.m.
