‘Ugly Betty’ Producers Facing Federal Lawsuit

Screenwriter Azita Zendel has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Federal Court today claiming that the producers of ABC’s "Ugly Betty" used her screenplay for the film "Controlled Chaos" in the creation of episodes for the show, reports TMZ.com.

Zendel’s suit accuses the producers of the ABC series, which completed its run last Wednesday, of culling material from her work for use in their show, without ever compensating her. Zendel says "Betty" producers got her screenplay after she submitted it to them for a possible distribution deal.

Zendel did not specify what remedies she’s seeking, and ABC nor the producers of "Ugly Betty" have yet to respond to the suit.
