Will Fox Affiliate Concerns Derail Deal with Conan O’Brien?

While Conan O’Brien and Fox hammer away at contract negotiations, there’s rumbling from Fox affiliates that could derail an O’Brien show from landing at the network, the Hollywood Reporter says.

O’Brien won’t commit to Fox unless it can guarantee the show will air across the country, but that’s far from happening, the article says. Some Fox affiliates are unenthusiastic about taking the proposed program because it would mean they’d be stuck with the cost of syndicated programs the stations had previously booked for late-night programming.

The sticking points are such that it’s possible negotiations won’t be concluded until after the network’s upfront presentation on May 17. Still, the talks have made progress in other areas, the report says. O’Brien has agreed to some key concessions such as a lower salary and production costs.

  1. It looks like it has already been de-railed. Conan is now going to be on TBS! Won’t NBC be surprised when Conan takes his followers back in the late night hours!

  2. The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
