Zucker Responds to Senator’s Concern About NBC Charging to Watch Some Live Streaming of Olympic Events

NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker has written a letter replying to a Senator’s concerns that NBC charged a fee to watch some live streaming of Olympic events,  B&C reports.

In a letter to Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis), Zucker wrote that fees paid to NBCU by programming distributors are "a significant factor in NBCU’s ability to recoup the enormous cost" of the Olympics.

NBC required viewers who wanted to watch live event streaming to have a subscription through a programing distributor such as Comcast or Verizon’s FiOS, B&C says. Limited live event streaming was available for hockey and curling.
