The television rights for ACC football and basketball have been the subject of a bidding war. After contentious negotiations, ESPN bested Fox Sports, reports SportsBusinessJournal.com.

Because of the back and forth, the Atlantic Coast Conference — which includes universities like University of Miami, Duke and the University of North Carolina — made several million more dollars than anticipated.

Insiders claim that the deal, which is still pending, will cost ESPN $1.86 billion over 12 years.
