NBC may be taking a risk with its first new primetime comedy series order, a show called "Outsourced," reports Nellie Andreeva on Deadline.com.

"Will Americans laugh at a sitcom about outsourcing their jobs to India? With our country reeling from the deepest recession and the largest job losses in decades?" the article asks.

"Outsourced" focuses on an American company called Mid America Novelties, which has outsourced its call center to India and sent an American manager called Ben Rappaport to run the operation.

  1. Looks like “hide the decline” is morphing into “embrace the decline!” Hooray for mediocrity.
All that aside, this show sounds like a great concept with a lot of potential for exploring cross-cultural issues with good humor. As long as the writers/producers don’t simply apply the threadbare “black/white” template to the “Indian/white” show concept, good on them.

  2. About time a show like this made it to primetime. I can’t wait to see this!

  3. When I first saw this commercial New Comedy tv show “Outsourcing” so proudly stated from NBC no less I was so shocked! I still can’t believe what poor judgement NBC has used and what aweful timing to put something like this out there. For thousands of hard working prople acroos the United States who liked their jobs and had them for some years with a company had it all come to and end with their jobs Outsourced. We the people whom had our jobs taken away find this very disapointing to say the least.I am sure that many people will not be watching this for sure and will consider this to be some sick kind of joke! Maybe you don’t get it but we are hard working middle class people and are now suffering with from all of this.I for one will not be watching anything on NBC for this reason in the future! Horrible decision from your company NBC!!

  6. What a fucking hilariously stupid and offensive piece of crap. I say hilarious because if there is one thing that cannot be “outsourced” from America is our ability to puke racial stereotypes! Can’t wait to watch…as NBC continues its downward spiral.

  7. After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music
