If the Big Game Can Make It There, It Can Make It Anywhere: NFL Approves Locale for First Outdoor Cold Weather Super Bowl

May 26, 2010  •  Post A Comment

For the first time in NFL history, the 2014 Super Bowl will be played outdoors in a cold weather climate, now that the New York/New Jersey area has been awarded the game, reports Deadline.com.

The NFL is rewarding the metropolitan area for building a new stadium (the New Meadowlands, home to both the Giants and the Jets), but unlike other cold weather locations — Detroit, Minneapolis — this new facility is not a dome.

That means the game could be played in snow, ice or a blizzard depending in the weather.

Also, from the perspective of a TV show, the likelihood of getting big name talent to appear in a live, outdoor half-time show may be effected.
