Report: ABC Talking with Warner Bros About ‘Old Christine’ — Again

May 3, 2010  •  Post A Comment

[Update to reflect, as commenter David Levy notes below, that "Crhistine" is owned by Warner Bros., not CBS.]

ABC is in discussions with CBS  Warner Bros. to pick up "The New Adventures of Old Christine," marking the third year in a row that ABC had discussed taking the show, Nellie Andreeva reports on Deadline.com.

ABC would likely pair the comedy with "The Middle," the comedy starring Patricia Heaton, the article says. But there are other potential show-moving deals afoot, with talk that CBS’ "Ghost Whisperer" may also shift to ABC. The fate of the show may depend on whether CBS decides to keep scripted programs on at least part of Friday evenings, given the ratings decline experienced by the networks on that day.

Meanwhile, "Chuck" is looking more likely to see a renewal after a ratings increase and a plan from fans to stage flash mobs today. "One Tree Hill," another bubble show, may get a partial order along with newbie "Life Unexpected," allowing them to share a time slot.

  1. ABC is in discussions with Warner Bros. (the studio behind “The New Adventures of Old Christine”), not CBS (the network that currently broadcasts it).

  2. Nothing again “Christine” and I LOVE Julia – but if ABC is looking to save a show with lower ratings and give a show a legit time slot shot – how about they save Friday Night Lights!! The show is so good – outstanding cast and writing. The fans are so passionate about it…save a show like that!

  3. Chris – Nice thought as it is nothing but a great show, but it won’t happen. Just be happy that you’ll get 5 seasons of FNL. It’s ratings are way too low and the cast is essentially released from their contracts and have been pursuing new projects.

  4. Moving Christine to ABC and pairing it with The Middle would be good. After 2 eps of Hank I switched to Christine, which I had never seen before, and really liked it. However, some of its humor is a bit more adult and really better suited for a later hour.
As for The Ghost Whisperer….that show should walk towards to light and go away. It’s run its course. Besides, isn’t JLH in a pilot for another show? Maybe I’d watch if SHE were off the show, but I gave up the ghost when they brought her hubby back in the body of another man. That was crazy.
