The story splashed on the cover of the National Enquirer about the break up of "Today" co-host Matt Lauer’s marriage because of his infidelity, has been confirmed by an unnamed source at the NBC show, according to the New York Daily News.

The Enquirer reports that Lauer has been separated from his wife Annette for more than two months following allegations of flirtatious escapades with two Canadian broadcasters during the Vancouver Olympics.

Matt’s ex-wife, Nancy Alspaugh, said of the reports, "I heard he and Annette are breaking up. I was not shocked to hear that but it’s very sad."

For the sake of his family with Annette, Lauer has tried to keep the scandal under wraps. The Daily News’ source at the "Today" show said, "For their sake, he and Annette plan to continue getting together on weekends – and they’ll go to their house in the Hamptons."
