When stars go looking for promotion, there’s a new stop on the circuit: World Wrestling Entertainment’s "Raw," reports the New York Times.
After cutting back on the gore, the USA program has become more family-friendly, helping attract the likes of Jeremy Piven, Donald Trump, and "MacGruber" stars Will Forte, Ryan Phillippe and Kristen Wiig. The appeal of the program for celebrities looking to promote their shows or films is that "Raw" draws a weekly average of 5.3 million viewers, who tend to be young men. Later this month, former astronaut Buzz Aldrin will climb into the ring as a guest host, whose duties can range from light wrestling to introducing matches.
"One wonders whether a “Raw” booking for Betty White, the most recent host of “Saturday Night Live,” can be far behind," the article asks. Hmm, is there a Facebook page for that?
