Alloy, the creator of the CW’s teen hits "Gossip Girl" and "Vampire Diaries," will be bought by ZelnickMedia for $127 million in cash, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town blog.

Alloy focuses on the teen market through a variety of ventures, from the Channel One school-news program to teen-publisher Alloy Entertainment, the story says.

The companies expect the purchase to be closed by year-end, and Alloy will gain two new board members with former Nickelodeon Chief Executive Geraldine Laybourne and former Marvel Entertainment Chief Operating Officer Bill Jemas, the article adds.
