Sunday’s World Cup match between Argentina and Mexico drew 9.36 million viewers to Univision, making the broadcast the biggest audience for any Spanish-language program, whether it be sports or entertainment, in U.S. television history, Mediaweek reports.

The broadcast was strong in the 18 to 49 year old demoas well, with 5.59 million adults in that age group tuning in, the article says.

On ABC, the match drew about 6 million viewers, which marks a high point for a 2010 World Cup game without the U.S. team playing, the piece adds.
