Belo’s WFAA in Dallas First Station in the Top Ten to Sign with Rentrak’s Service That Gets Data from Set Top Boxes

Rentrak’s set-top box based local ratings service, called StationView Essentials, has now signed up over 25 stations, including it’s first breakthrough in a top 10 market, Dallas.

Belo’s ABC affiliate, WFAA has signed up, Rentrak has announced. Rentrak’s set-top data comes from subsribers to the Dish Network and AT&T’s U-Verse. 

In its announcement, Rentrak says this about it’s StationView service: "Developed with industry input and by Rentrak’s television station advisory board comprised of local television station operators and local station research professionals, StationView Essentials offers metrics that enhance the ability of subscribers to understand viewer involvement and viewing habits in local markets. Subscribers receive live granular station and telecast level reporting, including cable network performance detail as well as Audience Duplication, Retention and News Analysis information."

Regarding signing up for StationView, WFAA’s President and General Manager, Mike Devlin said in a statement, "Without question there has been an explosion in measurement technology. It just makes good sense to explore new tools of measurement as we strive for the most accurate picture of ratings in the marketplace, as well as the most meaningful data for our clients."
