Bret Michaels dropped a hint during a rock performance that he may be replacing Simon Cowell on "American Idol" during the show’s next season, TMZ.com reports.

According to the article, Michaels, who suffered a warning stroke last month and has recently faced a series of serious health issues, said during a concert in Biloxi, Mississippi, "I can’t say this is true yet, cause I don’t know. Next year they asked me to possibly be the judge on ‘American Idol.’ " A source close to the singer said that Michaels is "in the running" to replace Cowell, but that a deal isn’t yet close.  Fox declined to comment on speculation over Cowell’s replacement.
