Comcast may add a regional sports network reports Multichannel News.

According to the report, Comcast is interested in building a new network featuring the Houston Astros and Houston Rockets, .

The network would start with the Rockets’ 2012-13 campaign, and would mark the first Comcast SportsNet addition since 2007, when it added remaining stakes from FSN Bay Area and FSN New England and started CSN Northwest, the article said.

the story says the rights for the Astros and Rockets  "are currently the property of FSN Houston through the conclusion of the 2012 and 2011-12 seasons, respectively. The incumbent RSN, AT&T U-verse and DirecTV as a team, and a private equity firm, are also in discussions with the clubs.

Comcast officials declined to comment to Multichannel News.

Comcast, the top cable operator in Houston, has about 700,000 of Houston’s 1.2 million cable subscribers.

  1. Hey,
Comcast SportsNet affiliates have alternate or overflow feeds to avoid conflicts when 2 teams have rights to playing at the same time, so they can show both games at once.
    Thanks
