"Grey’s Anatomy" has promoted Sarah Drew to a series regular, starting with the show’s seventh season, EW.com’s The Ausiello Files reports. 

The former "Everwood" actress was promoted after Jesse Williams joined the full-time staff at the Seattle Grace hospital.

Drew’s character has received a chilly reception, but her emotional performance in the show’s season finale points to the reasons why the character received a bump.

Actor Jesse Williams will also be a series regular next season, as that was announced earlier this week.
