May didn’t come up roses for Larry King, whose "Larry King Live" on CNN tallied its lowest monthly viewer total in almost 20 years, reports the New York Times’ Media Decoder blog.

The program drew an average of 653,000 viewers each night last month, the show’s lowest average since Nielsen started storing the data electronically in the early 1990s.

That compares with an average so far this year of about 700,000 viewers nightly, also down significantly from the show’s ratings last year.

CNN declined to comment about the program’s viewer loss.

King’s show is expected to get a boost this month given high-profile guests such as President Barack Obama and Lebron James.
