Perhaps vampire-themed television shows aren’t always a sure thing. As TVbytheNumbers.com reports, ABC’s new summer series, the suburban-vampire drama "The Gates" and comedy-drama "Scoundrels" got off to a slow start on Sunday.

"The Gates" drew a 1.5 rating among adults between 18 and 49 years old, while "Scoundrels" drew only a 1.3 rating in the demographic, the report says.

Meanwhile, the final round in the U.S. Open golf tournament won among the age group, with the primetime segment of the NBC broadcast drawing a 2.3 rating, representing a 35% jump from last year’s primetime portion of the tournament, the report adds.

  1. A slow start?…..Well I’m assuming both “Scoundrels” & “The Gates” will QUICKLY pick up steam in the “Desperate Housewives”/”Brothers & Sisters” slot because both shows are HIGHLY, HIGHLY entertaining…..(I can’t WAIT for the next episode of “Scoundrels”!)

  2. If you watch True Blood and then turn to The Gates you can immediately see the difference. Good writing and exciting pacing on one. Typically Network TV Bland on the other.
