Cable Network Gets New President

A major cable network announced a new president today.

WIth Paul Lee going to head up the ABC network, that left a void atop ABC Family, from whence Lee came.

The company filled the position today, Monday, Aug. 30th, 2010, with the naming of Michael Riley as President of ABC Family.

Riley comes to the job from a sibling Walt Disney Co. division. He has been senior vice president and general manager of Radio Disney, where he was in charge of 36 radio stations.

"Previously Riley was senior vice president and general manager, Turner Broadcasting System, Europe, Middle East and Africa," the company announced, adding that "From 2004-06 he was vice president and general manager, Turner Broadcasting System France.."

In making the announcement, Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks & president, Disney/ABC Television Group, and the person to whom Riley will report, said, in a statement, “Michael’s talent and drive are eclipsed only by the enthusiasm and passion he brings to every opportunity. I’m confident his unique set of skills and experience will help us further ABC Family’s amazing momentum.”
