One of the co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” is about to get a little busier–and take on lighter material–as she becomes the host of one of TV’s most familiar game show formats, the AP reports.

Comic Sherri Shepherd will take over the spot vacated by singer Carnie Wilson as host of GSN’s “The Newlywed Game.” The show begins a new season in November.

Shepherd is excited about the opportunity to handle lighter fare, saying of her new gig, "I get to have fun. I’m not going to be arguing with anybody about whether we should pull the troops out of Afghanistan."
