Late-Night Talk Show Brings in Former Letterman Exec As Producer

Aug 17, 2010  •  Post A Comment

A former executive producer of David Letterman’s show is returning to the late-night talk show wars,  B&C reports.

Robert Morton, a veteran executive producer of late-night talk shows who oversaw David Letterman’s show as well as programs starring Wayne Brady, David Alan Grier and others, assumes the executive producer’s role on TBS’ "Lopez Tonight," the publication reports.

Morton takes over the position from Mike Gibbons and Jim Paratore, neither of whom had contracts for a second year with the show. The talk show, hosted by George Lopez, will move from 11 p.m. to midnight to make room for Conan O’Brien’s show.

  1. George is very funny as a stand-up comedian and his sitcom was hilarious but his talk show, oy. He had Jessica Alba on there and analyzed her DNA (ok…) then told her she was half European, half Asian. She nervously asked if Hispanic was a category, followed by crickets. Awkward, stiff and boring and it isn’t Jim’s fault.

  2. Actually, it is Jim’s fault.
