Retrans Fight Intensified as Broadcasters Go on Offensive with Keepmytv.org

Aug 17, 2010  •  Post A Comment

The fight over retransmission consent rules just stepped up as the National Association of Broadcasters has started a site called Keepmytv.org that seeks to persuade consumers of the benefits of keeping the current rules, reports Mediaweek.com.

The site spells out consumer options if pay-TV providers no longer carry a broadcast channel, and promotes the importance of broadcast TV as a way of tapping into local news and emergency information, as well as TV’s highest-rated programs, the story says. Pay-TV providers are pressing Congress and the Federal Communications Commission to alter the rules.

  4. Ever since AT&T joined DirecTV there has been problems. I pay every month for the channels you have disturbed. If they take away CBS it is over for me and I will cancel DirecTV with a new provider. I am a senior widow and the programs are major on this channels. Stop messing with DirecTV PLEASE.
