Scary News? ‘Saw’ Horror Movie Producer Named to Lead Cable Network

Aug 11, 2010  •  Post A Comment

The executive producer of the "Saw" horror-film franchise has been tapped to lead FearNet, the cable service owned by Comcast Cable, Sony Pictures Television and Lionsgate, reports Multichannel News.

Peter Block will become president and general manager of the service as it prepares to debut a linear service in October. He’s taking over from Diane Robina, who will continue to oversee the venture’s video-on-demand and online services, the story says.

Block has helped shepherd other horror films to movie-goers, including "Daybreakers," "Hostel" and "Open Water." FearNet plans to debut as a digital-basic movie network before the 2010 Halloween season, the story says.
