Shift in Focus for MTV? Latest Project Could Signal a Return to Hip

Aug 30, 2010  •  Post A Comment

MTV is working on a new television series that could signal the network is trying to tap back into youth culture, reports New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

The series, based on the book "I Just Want My Pants Back," is filming in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood and, according to a Craigslist ad looking for "real hipsters" to be extras in the show, will be directed by Doug Liman of "Go."

"Filming on location in Brooklyn for ‘I Want My Pants,’ too, shows almost a commitment to the project, and to seeming "hip"," the story says.

The show might help segue MTV from "the exhausted, glossy ‘Hills’ aesthetic," the article adds.
