Three veterans of the Joss Whedon shows "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" are working on two projects for The CW that feature supernatural female protagonists, reports New York Magazine’s Vulture blog.

The first project features Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, both who previously worked on "Angel" and Whedon’s "Dollhouse," working on an adaptation of L.J. Smith’s novel series "Secret Circle," the article notes. The books follow a California girl who moves to her mom’s hometown of New Salem and discovers she’s a witch, the story says. Alloy Entertainment, the company behind "Gossip Girl," is putting the show together for The CW.

Marti Noxon, who wrote for both "Buffy" and "Angel," is working on a separate project for The CW called "Chloe" with production partner Dawn Parouse, the story says. The project focuses on a female con artist who dies but returns as a Divine Covert Operator, also known as an angel, the story notes. Noxon isn’t writing, though, the story says. Jason Fuchs of "Holy Rollers" is working on that, it says.
