The young voice actor who plays one of Nickelodeon’s most successful and beloved characters is taking the network to court, reports The New York Daily News.

Lawyers for Caitlin Sanchez, the voice of Nickelodeon’s "Dora the Explorer," and her parents have filed a lawsuit claiming that the Caitlin’s parents were pressured into signing "a dubious, complicated contract" that resulted in her being taken advantage of to the tune of millions of dollars.

Caitlin Sanchez, who is now 14, accuses Nickelodeon of coercing her parents to sign an "unconscionable" contract. In her role as Dora, Sanchez recorded hundreds of hours of vocal acting for which the suit claims she was not compensated, and had to appear in promotions around the country for the network. The lawsuit claims that she was given $40 a day for travel expenses.

The suit was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court and names Nickelodeon, MTV Networks and Viacom International as defendants. Michael Fricklas, executive vice president and general counsel for Viacom, told the Daily News that the suit is not a surprise, but his side considers it completely without merit.
