The FCC has given both Cablevision and Fox a short deadline to explain how their positions in the ongoing dispute over retransmission fees comply with the law that requires them to negotiate "in good faith,” B&C reports.
The commission wants to hear from the companies by Monday, Oct. 25. The agency also wants each company to hand over any evidence it has against the other, the story says.
In a letter to the companies the FCC said it requires that the bargaining be "conducted in an atmosphere of honesty, purpose and clarity of process." The letter was sent by FCC Media Bureau Chief Bill Lake to News Corp. President Chase Carey and Cablevision President James Dolan, the article reports.
"In particular, we request that you describe with specificity what has transpired since you initially began your negotiations, and detail the efforts your company is making to end the current impasse,” Lake says in the letter.
