FCC Grants Request to Tennis Channel for Review of Discrimination Case Against Comcast

Oct 6, 2010  •  Post A Comment

The Tennis Channel advanced in its discrimination case against Comcast, with the Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday granting its request to review the case, the Los Angeles Times’ Company Town blog reports.

The FCC wrote in a 17-page order that "there are substantial and material questions of fact as to whether Comcast has engaged in conduct that violates the program carriage provisions … and the Commission’s rules. We therefore initiate this hearing proceeding," the story says.

Comcast distributes its sports channels, such as the Golf Channel, to its customers, but the Tennis Channel, which is privately owned, is alleging that Comcast is unfairly putting it at a disadvantage by bundling it with a group of expensive sports channels, the article notes.
