For a Change, an Oprah-Backed Syndie Show Is Struggling

Oct 18, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Every TV personality who has had a show launched with the backing of Oprah Winfrey–a list that includes Rachael Ray, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil–has struck gold in syndication–until now, reports the New York Post.

After a strong start, "The Nate Berkus Show” has been losing ground in the ratings.

Taped in New York, Berkus’ talk/decorating show is being beaten by Nancy Grace’s new court show, "Swift Justice," by a wide margin. Grace’s show is drawing 2 million viewers to Berkus’ 1.2 million.

Why the slide for Berkus? According to medialifemagazine.com, an industry Web site, "Berkus is likable, but he pings from decorating to mommy bloggers to saving money to auction tips with the occasional celebrity appearance, making it difficult to discern the show’s true identity."
