Syfy is moving ahead with "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome," a series it ordered months ago that was initially intended to run online, as a pilot for a possible television series about the youthful adventures of William Adama, reports Maureen Ryan on TVSquad.com.

Syfy was so impressed with the script Michael Taylor wrote for the Web project that it decided to have the project moved to the network instead.

Mark Stern, Syfy’s executive vice president of original programming and the co-head of original content for Universal Cable Productions, told Ryan, "The scope is fantastic and bigger, I think, than anticipated, so we said, ‘Let’s do it as a two-hour backdoor pilot.’ … We’re trying to get up and running as soon as possible."

Syfy is aiming for an early 2012 premiere.
