In a move to allow viewers to watch both national and local video online through PBS.org, Public Broadcasting Service is retooling its Website, reports B&C.

The move will also include iPhone and iPad apps that will give users free access to full-length episodes of about 20 to 22 shows, the story says, adding that  the site will enhance offerings from local stations.

"It is a very important development for PBS.org because it gives our audience one-stop shopping for both national and local content and it is a tremendous benefit for the stations because it helps expose their great local content and video to a larger national audience," Jason Seiken, senior vice president of interactive and product development and innovation for PBS, told B&C.

The strategy is part of the company’s effort to put more video on the site, which has seen its video streams jump to about 5 million streams per month from about 2 million 18 months ago, the article notes.
