Acclaimed Director Guillermo del Toro (‘Pan’s Labyrinth’) Hooks Up With ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Producer for Major New TV Project

It’s a monster of partnership: "Pan’s Labyrinth" director Guillermo del Toro and "Battlestar Galactica" executive producer David Eick are finalizing an agreement to create a major new TV project, reports Nellie Andreeva at Deadline.com.

The project, for ABC, is a new TV version of "The Hulk," produced by Marvel TV and ABC Studios.

Not only is it del Toro’s first TV project, it’s the first series project from Marvel for ABC and ABC Studios since Disney bought Marvel last year, the story notes.

Rather than using just CGI to create Bruce Banner’s alter-ego, the show will use prosthetics, puppetry and CGI to create the raging Hulk, the story says.

Marvel is aiming to debut the series after the July 2012 release of "The Avengers," which includes the Hulk character, the story notes. Del Toro and Eick are executive producing, with Eick writing the script and del Toro attached to direct, based on his availability, the article adds.
