The host of a popular cable news show called in to her show last night to explain that her week-long absence was due to an emergency surgical procedure that may have been cancer, reports TVNewser.com.

HLN personality Nancy Grace explained that last Tuesday her doctors removed a mass that they feared may have been malignant. Lucky for Grace, it was benign.

Grace called her fill-in, Jean Casarez, to tell her story and encourage others to pay attention to their bodies.

“Please, ladies, go to your doctors. I was the lucky one,” Grace said.
