When you’ve been the No. 1 daytime drama for 22 years in a row, you’re probably not sweating whether you’ll be given a renewal by the network.

So it’s no surprise that CBS has picked up "The Young and the Restless" for another three years, even though other soap operas have had ratings problems, reports Deadline.com.

"Y&R" will be on-air at least through the 2013-14 season, at which point it will have been broadcasting for more than four decades. The show premiered in March 1973.

Recent years have seen the cancellations of other daytime dramas, the story notes, including NBC’s “Passions” and CBS’s “The Guiding Light” and “As the World Turns.”
