Even though this year’s World Series was the second-least-watched ever, it still lifted Fox to its first weekly win in the fall TV season, reports the Los Angeles Times’ ShowTracker blog.

The matchups between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers drew an average of 14.3 million viewers overall, only ahead of the 2008 World Series, the story says. Fox won the week with 11.9 million viewers, ending a five-week winning streak for CBS, which ended the week with 11 million viewers. ABC ranked third with 9.2 million viewers, with NBC bringing up the rear with 6.6 million viewers, the story notes.
