Mike Darnell Says It’s Most ‘Nerve-Wracking Game He’s Seen’; ‘Million Dollar Money Drop’ Gets Order from Fox

A game show called "Million Dollar Money Drop" — which gives contestants $1 million in cash and then slowly takes it away — has been greenlighted by Fox, reports the Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed blog.

The show, from producer Endemol, works by giving two contestants $1 million in cash, with the pair needing to work as a team to answer seven quiz questions. They must risk a portion of their money on each round, although any wrong answers means their money disappears into a "money drop."

At the end of the seven questions, the contestants get to keep what’s left, if there is any, the story notes. Kevin Pollak will be the show’s host.

Fox president of alternative Mike Darnell said the show the most nerve-wracking game he’s seen in five years. "It actually feels like you’re losing it when you’re losing it. It’s a traumatic experience trying to hold onto the money," he said.

A United Kingdom version of the show has already aired.

Check out this U.K, clip of the show. In this ciip, the couple have half their money left (half a million pounds) going into the final question. The question gives them the choice of a number of celebrity couples and asks which couple married first.
