Once Highly Anticipated Spy Drama Canceled by NBC

A series that entered the fall television season as one of the most anticipated new shows has been canceled by NBC, reports Bill Carter in the New York Times’ ArtsBeat blog.

"Undercovers," about a pair of gorgeous undercover agents who also happen to be married, had sparked a bidding war among the networks when J.J. Abrams had pitched the idea, the story says. But the drama never caught on with viewers, and the program hit a new low this week when only 5.8 million viewers tuned in for its Wednesday at 8 p.m. airing.

NBC said it’s likely to broadcast the program’s six remaining episodes, the article notes.

  1. well it’s NBC!! bound to fail sait it a 1000 times!! don’t go there!! NOT THE PLACE TO BE!!

  2. It was too soon to pull the plug on this show. It had class, glitz, humor, intrigue and characters you could accept as a couple who lived two lives. Some other network should pick it up…NOW!

  3. Well personally it stunk. It’s been done to death and now it will die the death it deserves.

  4. I’m with you, Peter. Too soon to pull it. I hope another network picks it up.

  5. They are always so quick to cancel well-written shows instead of letting the shows prove themselves. They want fluff and it is nice to be able to watch a show that is believable and has action to boot!!!

  6. If this were on USA it would have a chance, and most importantly it wouldn’t be airing at 8pm, a terrible and way too early time period for the show. NBC killed this one and never gave it a chance. Bad scheduling, not the show’s fault.

  7. Well, I guess I’m going to be renting more movies and reading more books!

  8. I’ve been watching the show, and it never really caught on with me either. I watch it because there’s nothing on opposite that I’d care to see.
But I can see why the show is going away. The couple are just too pretty, and the story lines are just a little too out there to be believeable. And they’ve got Gerald McRainey too tightly wound.
I don’t think I’ll really miss the show.

  9. I cant believe the NHL is going to risk losing one of the best players in his prime to the nHL

  10. I just added th is net page to my bookmarks. I enjoy reading through your posts. Thanks!
