After seven seasons on two networks, a long-running crime drama has been canceled by CBS.

The network has pulled the plug on "Medium," starring Patricia Arquette as a psychic who helps solve mysteries, reports the Los Angeles Times’ ShowTracker blog.

The show’s creator, Glen Gordon Caron, on Thursday posted a message on Facebook that read, "It’s true. Allison Dubois will dream her last dream on ‘Medium,’ Friday, January 21st." He added that the finale will be a "series defining episode" in which "Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink." A CBS spokesman confirmed that the show is ending in January.

The program originally debuted on NBC, although when the network canceled the show in May 2009, CBS picked it up for its Friday evening lineup, the article notes.

  1. I’m really going to miss Medium. It’s probably the best written, most original, and most clever show on television. What the heck am I going to do Friday evenings now?

  2. Are you KIDDING me? And what? Replace it with another slimy sex comedy like 2.5 subhumans? Caron does something right, and the best CBS can do is say “farewell”.
BOO, CBS! Bad form. You can do better. Put the show on a different night. Give it a chance. Please?
    Losers.

  3. Get a life
