We’re Shocked, Shocked, That There May Be Politics Going On: Is the Tea Party Helping Bristol Palin Survive on ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

Nov 11, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Bristol Palin’s survival through another elimination round on ABC’s "Dancing With the Stars" may be partly explained by support from the Tea Party, reports Bloomberg News.

"There’s a strong popular movement behind Sarah Palin at the moment and she’s receiving a lot of support from the Tea Party,” "DWTS" executive producer Conrad Green said in an interview before the most recent elimination round. “It’s entirely possible some of those people are behind Bristol for political reasons.”

That may explain how Palin gathered enough votes from fans to overcome low scores from the show’s judges, the story says. Palin, the daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, will return for a ninth week, while former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner got booted off the program. The story notes that Palin wore a Tea Party t-shirt during taping of the Nov. 8 show.

  1. Shocking? More like a warning not to put anyone on the show who represents a sizable group with an AGENDA. After all, it is partially a popularity contest…

  2. I’d heard that there were many momma grizzlies voting, and now it must be true.

  3. What a piece of garbage. DWTS has always been a popularity contest. The judges scores are only 50% of the total, the fans 50%. Every contestant on the show has fans that vote for them. Whether you are a movie star, TV star, are a singer, football player, etc. Why is it suddenly SHOCKING that Bristol Palin is still on. If she had been voted off would Bloomburg News have been SHOCKED that Kurt Warner was still on the show. Would they have reported that it was only because NFL fans voted for him? Does Conrad Green have a way of knowing the political leanings of people that vote? Is DWTS spying on voters. Should the FBI investigate DWTS to find out how Conrad Green knows that it was Tea Party members that voted for Bristol to keep her in the competition? Bristol Palin is not as good a dancer as many of the other contestants but she is a shy, very likable young lady. She never danced before and deserves a lot of credit for trying. I guess that Conrad Green doesn’t think that anyone connected with Sarah Palin could be liked by enough people to last this long in the competition. Apparently, in Conrad Green’s world, being likable can’t be the reason Bristol is still on, it has to be political. What a piece of garbage.

  4. Nonsense. I’ve been watching and Bristol is improving each week, and at a faster rate than those who have already left the show. It has nothing to do with Tea Party. I find it odd that the Left jumps to conclude that their opponents engage in behavior that they themselves think OK, that is, showing favoritism in a dancing competition. For shame. A lot of us on the Right really don’t like Sarah that much, but Bristol is a hard-working young lady who deserves some props for her dancing efforts.

  5. I mean, I could see all this fuss over the guy if he’d led Jersey to the Finals

  6. Thanks for the info. It seems to be up for discussion these days.

  7. I have enjoyed DWTS for many seasons. I am very shocked that Bristol Palin made it to the finals and Brandy and Max went home. Bristol is the worst dancer ever. If it was anyone else she would of been gone. I am starting to re-think in watching this show. Jennifer and Brandy should of been the last two. I guess playing dirting politics is the way to win. I have danced myself and I know the techniques to look for Bristol had none of them. I really think the ratings of this show will be hurt if she goes all the way. If that happens I will no-longer be a fan of DWTS. Maybe the professional dancers should start looking for other work.
